I used to listen to books on tape while I drove to the doctor’s office an hour away. Around 2001, I happened on Robert Kiyosaki’s, “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”.
As I listened, I realized that for the first time, I’d found Information that would change my life! My mind had now been opened to a new way of thinking; a way of thinking that I wasn’t even aware existed!
I was so excited by what I’d just heard, that when I got home, I brought the tapes inside and shared them with my husband. I wasn’t surprised to find that Robert Kiyosaki had the same effect on him!
Robert Kiyosaki explained that we needed to change our mindset about money. If we wanted to be rich, we needed to learn to think like the rich, learn what the rich know, and most importantly, DO what the rich do!
Robert Kiyosaki is teaching people how to become millionaires by changing their mindset with regard to money. He is teaching us how we can work less, earn more, pay less in taxes, and become more financially secure when we change our money mindset.
I have a great friend, Sue Price who created an awesome post about education and mindset. Another friend, Louise Steiner brought my attention to a different aspect of financial mindset. The truth that Louise shares is that “You Can’t Have It All If You’re Not There”.
Gone are the days when going to school, getting an education then getting a job are enough for people to become financially wealthy. Trading time for money is not going to make anyone rich, yet this is what is still being taught in schools around the world!
Robert is teaching people what they haven’t been taught at school. He is teaching them how to become financially secure through providing them with a financial education.
People all over the world are eagerly learning and applying this information from Robert and loving it – and who wouldn’t? Robert is proof that what he teaches really does work!
I’m looking forward to explaining to you the details of this mindset, and why Robert Kiyosaki feels that Direct Selling is the perfect business model.
If you would like to buy any of Robert’s “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” books or audio recordings, you can get them here: RICH DAD POOR DAD
I would love to hear about the first time you read or listened to Robert Kiyosaki! How has this information changed your life?
If you haven’t read any of these books, then I highly recommend you do! You can head on over to Amazon and browse the books and audio recordings available. RICH DAD POOR DAD

Linda, It has been a while since I read “Rich Dad, Poor Dad.” Initially when I read it, I was an employee. Now, having made the shift to the B quadrant, I am finding that the support, value, and option to make a lot more money is right in front of me. I’m working on the number one asset of building a core business. Woo hoo! It’s fun, challenging and exciting. Thanks for all your support.

Hi Linda
I love Robert Kiyosaki’s books!
The first time I read one of the Rich Dad series of books was roughly four years ago, when a friend loaned me some of her books to read (I was running out ones that I hadn’t already read – Heaven forbid!).
The book I read is called, “The Business School (Second Edition)- For People Who Like Helping People”. In this book, Robert talks about the values of a networking marketing business.
I loved this book so much, I went straight to eBay (of course!) and bought it, plus “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”, “Cashflow Quadrant” and “Retire Young, Retire Rich”.
I’ve read them all numerous times and they have made an enormous difference to how I view the world, not to mention the increased optimism in me that they created.
After reading these books, I purchased a Financial Home Study course which I’ve learned heaps from too.
Values, beliefs and behaviours are generally passed down through families, so if families don’t have an money mindset of abundance, it’s highly likely that this will also be passed along. The mindset around money that the majority of the population have is of scarcity.
One of the most significant points that I learned from Robert, is that Financial Education is something that just isn’t taught in schools! Yet, it’s crucial information that everyone needs. That needs to be changed!
I firmly believe that the Rich Dad books should be introduced into school curriculums around the world.
Great post, Linda – I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I agree with you, we should start teaching Kiyosaki’s mindset to the kids in school. If we did so, they would either be introduced to the concept, or if they were fortunate enough to have parents already living it, it would be confirmation!

I agree, it’s very important to see what the rich do, and try to copy it the best you can.
I absolutely love rich dad poor dad, it’s likely the first book any wealth seeking individual should look at.

Robert Kiyosaki’s mindset is really great. I like him, he is one of my role model to pursue things I want when it comes to business. I don’t think about direct selling, I have no idea about it but I’m willing to learn.

Avery,
Like you, I really like Robert! When he’s talking about Direct Selling he means MLMs, Multilevel Marketing, selling products but not from a store. There are MANY products that are sold as an MLM. Amway is the most famous of the firsts. Right now I’m doing iWowWe, which isn’t exactly an MLM it’s a Multi-tier Marketing Platform. Very similar but we don’t buy a product to use, we pay for the service of video conferencing! It’s really awesome! You can sign up for free! Click on this link http://www.iwowwe.com/lindagracecox (you might need to copy and paste this in your URL) and you’ll see my iWowWe home page. On the task bar, you’ll see the Opportunity tab on the right.. hover there and on the dropdown menu click ENROLL. From there you can ‘sign in’ or ‘sign up now’. Enter your information, you’re in, and your position is set.
I hope to see you the other side!

Kiyosaki is a gold mine of information. Everyone should be sure not to miss his books, particularly the Cash Flow Quadrant which goes into quite a few nuances that his videos do not. Direct Selling is a wonderful business – it just needs the attention, dedication, hard work, focus, and building our personal value that any business calls for. Too many people get in expecting an over night success and it doesn’t work that way. Don’t quit your day job until you have your finances fully in order with the new business. It provides one with the ability to get through the early lean times as well as the “pain” to keep us moving forward! Good stuff from a brilliant man!

A great post Linda and thanks for linking me in there. I really appreciate it.
Then I decided to put my ego aside and follow this man. He has been a very significant teacher and mentor in my life.
I think The Cashflow Quadrant is his most important book. As you know I was the CEO of the company that promoted him, published and sold his books in Australia and New Zealand. In that time I heard and read testimony after testimony from people who’s lives had been transformed by his books.
He has an amazing message and his real talent is taking a very complex subject (finances) and makes it simple. It really is paradigm shifting information.
When I first met Robert he told me my house was not an asset. I argued with him – hey I was the CPA

I know many people will disagree with me but I do not wish to be rich in the future. I just plan on living a normal life in a normal house.
My main reason is I don’t wish to spoil my children. But I agree with Robert about doing what the rich do. Since I do not wish to be rich my goals are just to make money online and I started by talking to this guy named Eric Sherman who makes hundreds a day online and is barely entering college.
I joined his forum and a while later I started earning money online as well but nowhere near as much as him.
Long story short is that you are the people you hang out with. That couldn’t be anymore true.

It’s fun to see you succeed! I have to tell you though, you don’t have to spoil your kids even if you’re unbelievably rich!! Our teenagers can really earn their own money and become finacially literate from an early age!

Linda,
Robert Kiyosaki is a tremendous value for anyone to pick up and learn from. Rich Dad Poor Dad was a book that was introduced to me some time ago. I remember when I read it at the time that I thought I was doing pretty good. I was self employed and I thought I was a business owner. What I really had was a job that I owned. If I didn’t work I didn’t get paid. That book helped me to make the shift in my thinking and to look for other ways to leverage my time and energy and to find something that would provide an income even if I wasn’t working.
There are a number of great books in his series. I would recommend any one of them.

Hi Linda,
Rich Dad Poor Dad is one of my favorite books. I love the message that Robert K teaches. Mindset is truly the #1 ingredient for success or failure. Your thoughts are responsible for your words and your words are responsible for your actions so if your mindset is not properly set for business prosperity, you’re doomed from the get go. I really enjoyed this topic!

I had been taught to get a good education and a good job, and did not realise there was a better alternative. Thank you for reminding me of where this journey of mine all began.

There’s still a lot of people believing you need to go to school to be able to make it in life. Truth is, once you’ve passed highschool you have a better change to success by going solo and learning only what you consider worthwhile. You want to be a programmer? Get some books. You want to be a web designer? Get some books. You’ll start making money right away.

I read them back in the day when I was at college (i.e broke) so never really had a chance to put the principles into practice.
I’m going to go back and read them again now that I’m all grown up – hopefully they’ll help me move in the right direction towards financial freedom.

I almost agree with Robert Kiyosaki, we have to change our mindset when it comes to money. Direct selling is a perfect business many entrepreneurs agree with it because in direct selling you can market and sell your products directly to your customer. Great idea Linda, I learn a lot of things here in your article and i’m grateful to that to you.

Well any one setting up his mind like Robert said and start implementing on his financial education then they can become financially strong. Performing your tasks and taking decisions like millionaire will definitely lead you towards financial growth. But just copying isn’t enough you have to work hard and enhance your skills.
