Eliminating Clutter

Clutter: A confusing or disorderly state or collection.
When in doubt, throw it out!
Nothing can have as liberating an effect on your life.
Put it to the test:
Do I need it? Do I want it?
Do I like it? Do I have room for it?
If you haven’t used/worn it in 6 months, give it away. (If it’s seasonal give it a year.)

    Linda,

Thanks for this reminder. When we clutter our surroundings with “stuff” it can get overwhelming. The same is true in our emotional and business lives.

It’s so hard for many of us to let go of the things, people, and circumstances that no longer serve us. It’s an important lesson to learn but will most definitely make life more successful and peaceful.

    Linda,

Good advice! I have a tendency to keep things too long but it’s always in the back of my mind that I will eventually use it. Maybe it’s just my engineering background talking. I can make something work from just about anything. I watch people on “Survivor” and think that most of them don’t have a clue. All I need is some bamboo, vines and some palm frans and we would be living in a palace! lol

    Thanks for sharing!

    Linda,

I guess let go of the past is always a challenging job for everyone. It is a good reminder to declutter our work area or even our garage to give us a fresh start.

One thing I find it helpful is to ask myself whether I have used that particular item for last 12 months. If not, most likely I am not going to use it in the future either. That helps me to sort out all my “junks”

Another decluttering motto I always ponder on is, ” I did not bring anything to the world when I was born and I am not going to bring anything with me when I die, so let go of things and hold on to good memories and good relationship.”

Excellent read, I just passed this onto a colleague who was doing a little research on this topic. And he actually bought me lunch because I found it for him. So I should thank you for the free lunch I got.

That was short, but it was so meaningful. I’m here to let you know that I will follow your advice. After all, that was for my own good.
