When teaching us about building our network marketing business, Jim Rohn tells his story.  He said he was a skilled farmer first before he decided to make his fortune.

He knew he was good at farming but it didn’t pay much.  I am a mother and know I’m a good one, and that doesn’t pay much either (my husband jokes saying, “I’ve paid you well.” – and he has, but it’s not a fortune!)

I’m ready to make my fortune.

When I hit my speed bump of MS, I knew I had to look past my plans of returning to work after the kids were in school.   After three years of studying and searching online, I’ve found a way to make my fortune!

Jim gave us a ton of information in this talk!  I’ve taken notes as I listened and the following are Jim’s words:

“Personal philosophy

“Profits are better than wages.  Wages make you a living and that’s fine.  Profits make you a fortune which is super fine.

“I’m working full time on my job but part time on my fortune.

“I found a way to make my fortune.

“Right now I’m working full time on my job, part-time on my fortune.

“If you’ll really concentrate on the 10,12,15 hours a week it won’t be long if you really do it right and learn some of the skills I’m going to teach you.

“One of the greatest recruiting tool is working part time.  Working part time gives you a classic invitation for someone to listen to what is changing your life.

“It’s not the blowing of the wind that determines your fortune, it’s the set of the sail.

“Opportunity mixed with difficulty.

“For things to change, you have to change. Don’t wish it was easier, wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems, wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenge, wish for more wisdom.  Accept the challenge, develop wisdom to overcome the challenge.  You can do the most remarkable things no matter what happens.”

“If you do something often enough a ratio will appear.

“If you talk to 10 people and 1 says yes, the ratio has begun 1 out of 10. Talk to 10 and get one.

“Once it starts it tends to continue if you talk to 10 and you get one chances are if you talk to 10 more you’ll get another one, talk to 10 more and you’ll get another one.

“Now the Competition Begins! You can beat anyone!  If you compete with a sales person who can get 9 out of ten, you can still beat them!  If you can get 9 out of ten and I can get 1 out of 10 I can beat you!  If you talk to 10 and get nine.  I’ll talk to 100 and get 10. I’ll beat you.

“When I’m new I make up in numbers what I lack in skill.

“Law of averages can be increased. If you repeat over and over, you get better and better, and we all can get better!

“We don’t have to bat 1000 to make money.  Three out of 10 is sufficient to make you rich beyond imagination. The way Jim went after his friends and family, I have started a new business and I’m getting about 3 out of 10 to join. I don’t care if you don’t want to join, just come to the meeting and be one of the seven.

“Don’t chase the birds you leave the field if you do. Which will distract from your future, not add. Isn’t that interesting?

“Sower kept on sowing because he knew that he could sow more than the birds can get.

“There are only 10 miserable people in the whole world that are miserable people.

“Now the seed falls on rocky ground where the soil is shallow starts to grow then withers and dies.

“Hot weather gets him.  Isn’t that interesting.  Some don’t stay.  Cooperate with the way things are set up.

“Discipline your disappointment.  You didn’t set up the set up and some are not going to stay

“Sometimes the seed falls on thorny ground.  As the seed grows the thorns choke it to death.

“The thorns are going to get some.  And that’s not of your making.

“Don’t sign up for this ‘why is this class’. It is the way it is!

“Sower keeps sowing the seed, giving an invitation.

“Finally the seed falls on good ground. It always will if you share a good idea long enough, it always will fall on good ground.  Some of the good ground did 30%, some 60%, some of the good ground did 100%

“Skills; Getting a customer, making a sale. Sharing something with someone else and sharing it well enough that they want to join you.

“Simple art of sales

“Making sales, recruiting, learning how to give a good presentation and following up.

“Nourish it like a mother and protect it like a father.

“Nourishment ~ ideas like a mother and protection, help defend your new life against encroachment of outside voices that would try to talk them out of it.

“Be the bridge from the shadows to the sunshine.  The most exciting part of network marketing, help people cross the bridge out from discouragement into recognition.

“You’ve got the answers, they’ve been looking for the answers You see something in them before they can see it themselves. You assure them that they can be more than they are. They can have more than they got, have more than they possess.

“Find a way to serve the MANY because service to many means greatness.

“Help people with their problems and you’re disappear.  Same product difference is ambition.

“Serve as many people as you would like.  Service to many leads to greatness.

“Don’t ask what people can do for you, ask what you can do for them.  Money isn’t everything but it ranks right up there with oxygen.” ~Zig Ziglar

“If you help enough people get what they want you can have everything you want.” ~ Zig Ziglar

“If two or three people agree on a common purpose, nothing is impossible.

Spirituality: Study, practice, teach. 4. Don’t miss anything. If you live well, you will earn well. 5. Take care of the inner circle, take care of them and they’ll take care of you. 6. Ask for God’s help. We have a chance as human beings to participate in the miracle processes.”

Jim Rohn passed away December 5, 2009.

“He left indelible foot prints behind.”  Darren Hardy said at his tribute. His life and legacy of inspiration and business philosophy was captured in the books written and notes taken at his events that will be passed on for generations.

I have learned from Jim Rohn and will continue to study, learn and practice all that Rohn believed and taught. I will follow in his footsteps until I too have made a fortune!

Original Plan: Graduate, Work, Have Kids, Raise them, Work as a Counselor and Earn Money when Kids Leave Home.

I graduated from East Anchorage High School in 1981, then from college at BYU – Utah in 1987. After obtaining a bachelors of social work, I became a group counselor at the abused women’s shelter in Anchorage.

When my 4th child was born, I decided to be a full-time mom.

I am a Christian to the core and eternal truth is eternal truth even if wrapped in a different package.  The Law of Attraction is definitely wrapped in  a different package.

An opportunity was presented to me just when I needed it. I was approached by my friend, Don Enck, about a new venture he had undertaken. I had been searching for the right business to join online.

I’ve been studying online marketing for over two years and I could see how everyone was making money! I followed many fabulous people who had found their passion and were making money when they shared. The whole process was exciting and I knew it could be done, but I wasn’t figuring out how it would work for me!

I tried a number of products, got over my fear of network marketing, learned and learned more. I was hanging out, sharing information on my blog, information that I know and love.  Information that has helped me find joy in my life and I’m confident that no matter what the circumstances are , will help others find joy also.

My husband and I raised eight children on one income, he was the sole provider for our home.  I’m forever grateful for his attitude of  “my money is our money” as I was able to stay at home and raise our eight children.   I had planned on going back to work when the kids were in high school then I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and it put a speed bump in my plan.

When I first began my quest to master internet marketing, I was drawn to video.  I bought a Logitech pro 9000 webcam,  and a flipcam then began to make movies, but I couldn’t see how I would be able to make money with them.

It’s amazing how the law of attraction comes into play. As if I ordered it, a friend, Toni King, sent me to Simon Sinek’s movie. Simon teaches about finding the WHY. Why are we motivated to do what we do?  Why was I drawn to video marketing? At Don’s request  I signed up for the free account with  iWowWe and it didn’t take long before I upgraded to the premium membership. With iWowWe I have found an avenue to make the money that I desire even though my circumstance doesn’t allow me to work outside the home!

I am a jack of all trades in the homemaking with children department.  I have given birth in a hospital, on a birthing stool, at home in bed, and in a huge soft birthing tub.   Our kids have done public school, charter schools, online schools, and all-out home school.  I have baked and cooked up all kinds of meat-filled, sugar-filled, and butter laden dishes followed up with tofu vegan lasagna and 100% raw vegan squash spaghetti.  Pick a year or two and I can tell you what phase I was in.

I like to try things.  I like to organize things.  Everything has it’s place.  Including each one of my phases.  I put my vegetarian phase in with my early home school phase.  My walking phase goes in with my Weight Watcher phase.  Everything in a box.  Like teaching history and literature and math and science but not having any of those things touch.  Each subject completely apart from the other.  Don’t let the peas touch the mashed potatoes because that’s just gross.

I did learn something once though.  I can’t treat myself like a dinner plate.  I cannot take care of my mind with only a bit of reading and stimulating conversation.  My emotional well being hinges on more than just high doses of B-Vitamins.  My mind, my feelings, and my body are so interconnected there is no telling where one ends and the other begins.  My strength is so much more than muscle mass.  I have learned that being healthy is finding balance.  It is that place where mind, body, and spirit meet and have a pleasant conversation.  They agree. There is harmony.  And there is work.

Energy spent for emotional well being.  Effort put forth to fortify the mind.  Exercise of body and mind for the sake of peace within.  There is no substitute for work.  Work is a true and divine principle.  My work has ranged from willing my body to crawl across the floor to call for help, to running 200 miles across the desert with a relay team of friends on no sleep and little food.  My work is mine.  It is finding the right thing at the right time.

It seems as though this time, yoga is the thing.  With my husband.

My cute man does YOGA with me!  He used to roll his eyes and chuckle softly when I would talk to him about a full yogic breath and centering and sun salutations.  Now he is “Namaste-ing” with the best of em’.  Well.  Kind of.  Instead of touching his head to his shins he is only able to reach in the general direction, but hey, he is taking a certain level of relaxation with him throughout his day.  And that is cool.

So I am thinking that maybe my current yoga phase can touch my running phase which coincides with my walking phase.  Maybe they can cozy up and hold hands.  Maybe they can even get thrown into a bowl together and get all mixed up and combine together so you can’t tell where one ends and the other begins.  I like that idea.  It reminds me of making cookies.  Healthy no sugar no flour cookies of course.  Which I did.  Last night.  I will show you those next time.

But for now, let’s just eat our peas and potatoes together in one bite.  Mind, body, and spirit.  Working together.  Inhale and Stretch to Your Left…….

In a post on my other blog, MSrelief.com I started by saying I’m a woman of faith. I want to tell you exactly what this means.

I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Jesus Christ has restored His church through Joseph Smith. I haven’t always known that.

Until I was 16 years old I had never met a Mormon. When I was in elementary school I saw a Mormon family cross the plains on Little House on the Prairie, and that’s all I knew.

As a senior in high school I was a professed atheist. I sat behind Denise in chemistry class at my new school. I was as inquisitive then as I am now. When asked about her religion, she told me she was a Mormon.

I was fascinated when she told me that they had early morning seminary – a church class for high school students, before school. “Wow,” I asked her, “you go to church every day?”

Denise’s relationship led me to meet her brother, Rob, who was home from college waiting for his Mission call~ another shocker! Rob was devoting two years of his life, at his expense to preach? Amazing! After dating for a few weeks, Rob invited me to listen to the missionaries. I learned a bunch from them and more about the church from the lessons he taught by example.

When Rob wouldn’t take me to the movies on Sunday it was another shocker, “What,” I asked, “you believe in keeping the Sabbath day holy?” When both he and Denise encouraged me to say, “Gosh” instead of the Lords name, I only chuckled.

I listened to the missionaries once a week for months. When I attended sacrament (worship) meeting with his family, the program was dedicated to Rob’s mission farewell. The entire family was crying and Rob’s dad shook my hand. He said to me, “There Linda, you’ve had your first spiritual experience.”

I thought to myself sarcastically, “Spiritual experience? Everyone is sad that Rob will be gone for two years! It’s normal emotions, not ‘the spirit’.”

After Rob left to serve his mission in Scotland, I started attending other churches to compare for myself. I continued for months, still seeing the missionaries almost every week. I did as the Missionaries suggested, I was obedient to the commandments and prayed to receive witness that there was a God and if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the “only true church” as the missionaries were claiming. I came to recognize there is a God but I wasn’t ready to hear if the LDS church is where I should attend.

I continued comparing churches, until I came to the conclusion that if I was going to join a church, it would be the LDS church because it followed the Bible the closest. At that time I didn’t want to devote my life to God and the gospel. I was getting grief from my family and friends for even considering it. I remember writing in my journal, “I am so confused, I don’t know what to do! I just want to live a ‘normal Bailey existence’.

But I new too much, I could never live with myself if I denied the Church of Jesus Christ, no matter what my friends and family thought.

When I told the missionaries I was ready to be baptized, they were very excited and surprised that I was only 17. I’d need my mom’s permission to be baptized.

My mom denied permission for almost 6 months, then finally relented, assuming it was a whim and I’d forget about it when I moved back to live with my dad in Michigan for the year before college.

I was baptized a year after I was introduced to the church, October 10, 1981.

Thirty years later, my testimony is stronger than ever. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the vehicle that will take us back to Him. As a member of this church, I live a wonderful life, of course full of bumps and bruises, but I’m helped and supported by God himself (through the hands of His people) to get through and I’m honestly happy because of it!

The Power of Words! Sound, intention, words, written words, they all impact our soul!! I wouldn’t have believed it, not in a million years!

My 16-year-old daughter (now 17) watched a YouTube video with me of Dr. Masaru Emoto’s experiment on water.

As soon as the movie was over, Lilli jumped up and did the experiment for herself.

She cooked a cup of rice, evenly divided it into two clear plastic drinking glasses and filled them with tap water. She created two labels and taped them to the outside of the drinking glasses so that the words could be “read” by the contents of the cup. On one label she wrote LOVE and on the other cup the paper said YOU SUCK (spoken like a true teen- I’d have said HATE.)

She set them by the stove in the kitchen, right next to each other, just like you see in the picture.

At the beginning of her experiment, she would talk to the cups of rice. To the LOVE cup she would say kind and complementary words. To the other cup she would say mean and hateful words. After a few weeks (I wish we would have written the date!) the Love cup was crystal clear, the “you suck” cup was growing mold. Amazing!! You can see it for yourself!
